And they are off to Huntsville!

The 2024 ride for Veterans by Navy 83 begins on Saturday morning. By now many of the team are on their way to Huntsville, Alabama, for the kickoff meeting on Friday afternoon.  The team includes people from nine states: the West Coast to the East Coast and the northern plains to the southern Gulf Coast.  Participants are from California, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.  Some of us have been part of the ride since 2019 and for some of us, this is the first year of participation.  Some of us are flying in, some of us are driving by car, and some of us are coming in by motorhome. 

Support vehicles are being loaded with bicycles, bicycle repair equipment, food and water for SAG stops, and emergency medical equipment.

On 4:00 on Friday afternoon the team will gather for our safety briefing, after which will be the kickoff banquet. On the Saturday the ride begins.  It is the culmination of many months of preparation, training, several zoom phone calls, legal paperwork, countless emails, and text messages.
