Perrysburg OH - great hosts

Today we rode 89 miles from Angola, Indiana to Perrysburg, Ohio. We climbed 1,526 feet.

We started at 0730 today, under cloudy skies that threatened rain all day. Another helpful fire department escort for nine miles, delivering us into more rolling farm country. We left Indiana early in the ride and entered the Buckeye State. This part of Ohio seems more small-ag, as opposed to Iowa's and Indiana's big-ag. We see more small family farms, where dogs bark at us from the boundaries of their fences. For what we thought would be a flat day, we had a lot of climbing in the first 30 miles. The small roads connecting the farms had little traffic and good pavement. We had our lunch SAG with the wonderful folks at American Legion Post 373 in Delta, Ohio. They really pulled out all the stops for this lunch, with smoked pork shoulder, cole slaw, potato salad, and lots of cookies and cold drinks. We felt their sincere appreciation for our cause and are, once again, extremely grateful for their hospitality. After lunch we hopped onto the Wabash Cannonball Trail (www.wabashcannonballtrail.org) for the final 30-ish miles to the hotel. We raced a storm to the hotel again, and while we didn't get hammered, we got some showers to end the day. Unpack the truck, check in, hot shower...you know the drill.

"Visit Perrysburg" (www.visitperrysburg.com), the Perrysburg Visitors and Convention Bureau, hosted our dinner at a local restaurant. We had a nice room to ourselves and enjoyed some time together as a group off of the bikes. It was a real treat to sit in the same room and eat together undisturbed while enjoying each other's company for a while. Afterwards we all had some well-deserved ice cream and headed back to the hotel for some rest. Thank you, Visit Perrysburg for the generosity and hospitality.

Nine days...

Tomorrow we will ride from Perrysburg to Oberlin, Ohio. We will cycle 88 miles and climb 669 feet.
