Dan Starks becomes honorary USNA 1983 Classmate

The Naval Academy class of 1983 recently voted to make Dan Starks an Honorary Member of the class. The class voted after Mr. Starks was nominated by members of the Navy 83 Ride Across America team for his incredible support of the ride and for Veterans. His museum, The National Museum of Military Vehicles was a fantastic highlight from the 2023 Ride Across America.

At a recent Class of 83 board meeting, Dan and Cynthia were thanked for their support of the bike riding team and were offered honorary classmate status for their contributions to the veterans' cause. Steve Fischer, Class President, discussed the nomination process and invited team members to a reception on October 26th, emphasizing the significance of the event and the inclusion of honorary classmates.

Dan Starks expressed gratitude for the team's warm welcome and support. Dan is the founder of the award-winning National Museum of Military Vehicles (NMMV). NMMV is a world-class military history museum which opened southeast of Dubois, WY in August of 2020. Inside the 160,000 sq. foot Museum, visitors will find nearly 500 fully restored military vehicles, artillery pieces, naval vessels and aircraft dating from 1897 to the present with a current emphasis on the American experience in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The focus of the museum is to tell the stories of how these vehicles were used and to remember the valor of service members who fought, and sometimes died, in them. He wants people to understand the very human stories of the Veterans and their sacrifice and commitment for this country.

The museum also houses a large, historically significant, firearms collection.

The privately funded $100M museum was founded by Dan and Cynthia Starks. Dan Starks is a former attorney and former CEO of St. Jude Medical.

Dan and Cynthia have been amazing supporters of Ride Across America, and they continue to support the team for the BamaRama500! Thank you Dan and Cynthia for all you do for Veterans.
