Fast ride [17.5 mph avg] to Riverton. NMMV tour!

Today we rode 79 miles from Dubois to Riverton, Wyoming. We climbed 1,453 feet.

After a much-needed rest day, we hit the road this morning under clear skies and sailed downhill and downwind the entire route. Wyoming gave us a new look, with vast expanses of open land, views that stretched for miles. The Wyoming Department of Transportation should receive an award for the smooth, wide shoulder we enjoyed. With the good road surface and consistent tailwind, we recorded our fastest average speed of the trip to date. It sounds odd to say, but we considered this an "easy" 80-miler. That's a good thing, too, as the next few days are going to test us.

Most of the team enjoyed a private tour of the National Museum of Military Vehicles (www.nmmv.org), with the founder, Dan Starks, conducting the tour. Dan is a true patriot and has created this incredible collection of military history as a means of telling the stories of the veterans who served and sacrificed for our country. His collection is on display to educate the public about the men and women who operated the equipment in defense of freedom around the world. If you find yourself in this corner of the country, it is worth a day or two in Dubois to visit the museum.

Tomorrow we will ride from Riverton to Casper, WY. We will cycle 121 miles and climb a total of 3,072 feet.
