22 pushups, then the Tetons

Today we rode 66 miles from Colter Bay to Dubois, Wyoming. We climbed 3,700 feet.

"Wow!" seemed to be the consensus on today's scenery. Every time we rounded a bend in the road, another spectacular scene confronted us, forcing us to stop to gawk. As we traveled through Grand Teton National Park and Bridger Teton National Forest, Montana may have lost its top position in the beauty competition.

We started the day with 22 push ups, as we do every day, to help raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22_Pushup_Challenge). We began the ride at 0800, with perfect cycling weather-crisp, clear, and dry with minimal wind. We had a mostly flat, fast first 18 miles. After a brief SAG for breakfast, we began a very long (18 miles) series of three climbs that took us to an altitude of 9,567 feet. We stopped for another brief SAG and enjoyed the views from the top. We all took pictures in front of the Continental Divide sign, a real cycling nerd thing. Then another fast descent to lunch at Lava Mountain Grill and on to Dubois (DO-boyz), a nice little town where we stayed two years ago. Great motel, we're ready for our rest day tomorrow, when we will visit the National Museum of Military Vehicles (www.nmmv.org), a world-class collection of military equipment on display for public viewing.

I am happy to report that our fundraising effort is approaching $300k. Sincere thanks to all that have contributed to date, your contributions will make a big difference to veterans' causes. Please consider sharing this site with friends and/or family that may want to contribute to the cause. No donation is too small; we have taken $5 bills from people we meet along the way. Everything helps. Thank you in advance.

Tomorrow we have the only rest day of the entire trip. Friday, September 8, we will ride from Dubois to Riverton, WY. We will cycle 78 miles and climb a total of 2,015 feet.
